If you want to stay in an oceanside hotel on Cabarete Bay, be close to the center of town, but be away from the noise of the commercial strip and main road, then there is no better location than Hotel Alegría. (See map below.)

Just east of the commercial center of town and the main stretch of beach bars and restaurants, the beach of Cabarete Bay curves away from the coastal highway that runs through town. Here is where the first cottages in Cabarete were built over 40 years ago, and where the fishermen launched their boats when it was a fishing village. Today the neighborhood is a diverse mix of small hotels and restaurants, the large Velero Beach resort, and numerous homes and shops of Dominican families who have lived here for generations, conserving the local flavor that has attracted visitors for years. Cabarete’s top supermarket is at the highway entrance to this vibrant friendly community.
