The beach right in front of Hotel Alegría has always been a popular spot for experienced kite surfers to launch, but due to a reef off shore that could be hazardous to beginners our guests seeking instructions had to rely on kite centers down the beach. But recently a new kite school Waterpassion has opened in Hotel Alegría with IKO-certified instructors and a proven boat-assisted approach to teaching kitesurfing to beginners that makes learning the sport easier, faster and safer.
The conditions that have made Cabarete a popular windsurfing location have also made it the top kitesurfing spot in the hemisphere. It is a favored location for international kitesurfing competitions, including competitions that combine kitesurfing with windsurfing and surfing.
